The plains above Cravant les Coteaux

Renaissance

  • Terroir: Mixed gravel and sand on a clay-siliceous subsoil
  • Grape variety: cabernet franc
  • Winemaking: Hand-harvested. Fermentation of the must begins spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasts 20 days. The Cabernet Franc is vinified in truncated conical concrete vats.
  • Character : The wine's lovely red robe, with hints of Morello cherry, is tinged with golden hues. The initial nose, delicate and discreet, opens with notes of strawberry jam and quickly evolves to reveal aromas of ripe plum, cinnamon, and gingerbread. The palate, with its supple and rounded attack, is prolonged by the elegance of youthful, firm tannins on the finish. The wine's beautiful overall balance is subtly underscored by notes of Morello cherry and plum.

A wine for enjoyment that will perfectly complement a plate of charcuterie, grilled meats, a Touraine goat cheese or homemade roast poultry, or even a cod loin.

Palimpseste

Palimpseste is the cuvée made exclusively with grapes from the "Clos La Niverdière" in Beaumont en Véron

  • Terroir: «"Gentle Lands", a mixture of calcareous sands and calcareous colluvium, a not very deep horizon and a subsoil of white and yellow tuffeaux.
  • Grape variety: cabernet franc
  • Winemaking: Hand-harvested, vinified and aged in raw concrete tanks
  • Character : The young vines of the Clos produce a fruity, easy-drinking wine with notes of raspberry, redcurrant, and blackcurrant. This fruity character is very typical of the soft soils From Beaumont en Véron, these young vines with a beginning of rooting in the bedrock ultimately offer well-integrated tannins without being too firm and chalky.

This is a supple and fruity expression of Chinon Rouge, characteristic of its calcareous sandy soils. A wine to enjoy now, but one that will be even better after a few years of aging.
